Guided Tours/Group Visits

Group visits are welcome at the British Glass Biennale. During the Public Festival (24 - 27 August) the site welcomes in excess of 13,000 people and so coach parties are advised to contact either the Festival (info@ifg.org.uk) or the Biennale (info@biennale.org.uk) prior to their visit.

During the Public Festival, the British Glass Biennale Curator offers ’Confident Collecting’ tours. Previously these have been held with guest speaker, Will Farmer, Director of Fieldings Auctioneers and featured expert on the Antiques Roadshow

After the Public Festival the Biennale remains open to the public until 15 September. Again group visits are welcome and the Biennale can organise various benefits:

  • Guided tours of the British Glass Biennale. Visitors can be introduced to highlights within the show, including the winners of the various awards, collectable artists and up and coming talent.
  • Guided tours of the Ruskin Glass Centre. Newly refurbished in 2010, the centre now houses over 15 designer makers. Receive a guided tour of the new site and meet some of the makers.
  • Catering offers and reserved seating in Ruskin Glass Centre’s onsite cafe (subject to group numbers and availability

Conferencing and Hospitality

The British Glass Biennale is held on the site of the former Webb Corbett/Royal Doulton glass factory. In 2011 Ruskin Glass Centre received funding to develop the rest of the Ruskin Glass Centre site and the British Glass Biennale will be the first exhibition to be featured in the new space.

The new site will be an ideal location to host conferences and events and what better time to do so than whilst the British Glass Biennale is open. Entertain guests amongst more than 100 glass artworks, with the Curator and gallery staff on hand to offer information about the exhibits. Onsite catering is also available.
